FORTNITE IS SUCKING MY LIFE AWAY

People say love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life. But, that doesn’t mean you can play video games. At least that’s not what it used to mean. Thanks to Twitch.tv and some support from Epic Games, company that made Fortnite, you can! By livestreaming and providing entertainment for others you can make an honest living or you can play in tournaments to win money!

That sets the stage for where I come into the picture. I’m a college student and in between classes, work, and homework, I’m very busy. I don’t have that much extra time and so I find myself sucking time into Fortnite. I’ll say, “I’m only going to spend 1 hour on Fortnite.”

Yeah. Okay. Whatever you say Hank. I check the time and lo and behold time magically fast forwards 3 hours. It’s crazy how that works. But, it’s because of how Fortnite plays.

You land in game and whenever you die you always feel as though you could do better. This might seem silly to someone who doesn’t play or someone who thinks kids spend too much time playing. But, I’ll ventured to say probably 99% of people don’t play video games intelligently. What I mean to say is people don’t think about why they died and what they could’ve done differently.

So back to me. I’ll play and have a decent game for me (approx. 5 elims with 35 remaining) then, die. I’ll say to myself, “Wow I should’ve built up higher or waited to shoot at them.” Then, next game I’ll land and play brainlessly just running in a straight line at someone because I just want to get as many elims as possible. So I get caught in a trap of playing one game intelligently and the next like an IDIOT. Why do I do this?? But, that’s why Fortnite is sucking my life away. Because I haven’t trained myself to play smart every game.

I plan on writing an article about intelligent play in Fortnite so stay tuned.
