Nadeshot
I’m the oldest in my family and as such, whether they want to admit it or not, my 2 younger siblings look up to me. That’s how Nadeshot is for me in a way. Here’s a guy who’s 25 and I’m 21, but he’s so easy to relate to. I’ve never had that older sibling and Matt “Nadeshot” Haag gives off that vibe to me. But, we’ll get into that after you know who Nadeshot is. Here’s a sample of one of his videos:
Nadeshot started off his video game history playing Halo 2 on his Xbox. His mom said he couldn’t spend all his time playing video games so she made him get a job. He got a job at the local McDonalds and after school when he wasn’t at work he was at home playing First Person Shooters. He started off making YouTube videos for fun but, eventually he got involved in early competitive Call of Duty. He joined Optic Gaming with HecZ and became one of the most popular pro-players. He’s teamed with a lot of great players like Clayster, MerK, JKap(has 2 world championship rings) , BigTymer (previously held the record for most tournament wins), Optic Crimsix(beat BigTymer for most wins, and holds 2 rings), Optic Scump (his longtime teammate and one of the best pros), and Optic Formal. He retired from competitive play after a string of disappointing team performances. He didn’t want to be the one to hold Optic back. So he moved to California and started his own team.
He’s been honest when saying that after moving he hit a slump. He was staying in bed and wasn’t as motivated but, that’s all changed now that he’s started his team. The work ethic and the way he says, nothing is given and you have to take something if you want it, is important. Never take anything for granted and work hard. He’s like an older brother in the way that he tries to give advice so you can learn from his experiences. I see him as an older brother because he talks about things that I often find myself going through.
When I shake Nadeshot’s hand here is what I would say: thanks for all the laughs, thanks for inspiring others who have also came from humble roots, and finally keep grinding because the true fans will support you.
